This wine is described as ‘clean-cut and straightforward’ by the winemaker, and we love a simple classic to suit a summery starter or sip with a snack. It’s fresh but fruity, and lively yet easy to drink.

You’ll pick up hints of white flowers that come through thanks to the slow pressing of the grapes.

Recommended food pairings

Bourgogne Aligoté is great as an aperitif with a kick of cheese, which is why we’ve paired it with a slice of Tomme de Lozac for our tasting events. It’s also ideal with a light, simple dish, such as salad or hams.

Growing Conditions

Traditional vine care means the Aligoté grape is grown in a carefully managed environment. The winemaker balances the perfect harvest time with nature and climate, knowing just when to choose the right grape ready for pressing. Each grape is picked by hand.

Winemaking notes

The whites are pressed as soon as they reach the cuverie. The must is then given 24 hours to settle, before the wines are fermented in oak barrels. A slow malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels, using frequent battonnage to add texture and richness.

About the Winemaker

Bourgogne Aligoté is produced by the Prudhon family of Saint-Aubin. The vineyard has been passed down through generations with an equal split of red and white grape. Today, the domaine covers 15 hectares of vineyards, spread out over Saint-Aubin, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.
