Flavour Profile/Aroma
Maturation in oak barrels gives this wine a creamy complexity. It’s fresh on your palette with flavours of juicy forest fruits, such as cherries and strawberries, balanced with spices and dried herbs. You’ll find it has a medium-bodied finish that’s quite savoury.
Recommended food pairings
A spiced, medium-bodied red needs to be balanced carefully. For our virtual pairing events, we’ve chosen one of our favourite cheeses: Stärnächäs. It’s a recent winner of World’s Best Cheese at the International Cheese Awards, and its supple yet smooth texture complements Miss Harry really well.
Growing Conditions
Miss Harry is from Hewitson winery’s own Harriet’s Blend: Grenache (46%), Mourvèdre (18%), Shiraz (20%), Cinsault (7%) and Carignan (9%). After careful growing on their own vineyard, they are aged for a full year in seasoned French oak barrels.
Winemaking notes
The use of great oaks is important to Hewitson. They finish fermenting all their red wines in French oak barrels, individually made and imported. Miss Harry’s grapes are produced on one of the winemaker’s vineyards, kept separate throughout fermentation and maturation to make sure they keep their unique character.
